Practical Education Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Practical Education

Rating: 5.0

"I want car, house to live in and ornaments'
If I wanted to see my daughter with happy moments
The message was conveyed to me in plain terms
"How and what to do? " was now my turn

My daughter was given practical education
She knew how to tackle the grave situation
She was firm and resolute in some of the actions
She came out in open and offered reaction

"Papa, don't succumb to the pressure"
Let them think first and make sure
We are not helpless and at somebody's mercy
Nothing may take place against the wishes of almighty

I was little bit relieved by her assurance
To refuse for relation was not worth taking chance
Yet I was shaken by their greedy approach
Who knows they may demand more and come with as such?

First time I realized that it was curse to be father
That too of highly educated and learned daughter
But something gave me full assurance by her attitude
She was person of great understanding and magnitude

I faced no trouble at all and simply refused
Now ball was in their court and they were confused
If their son was highly educated and stood tall
My daughter was also equally good and capable of scaling the wall

Both families exchanged views on equal terms
Girl and boy were excellent in their field and like real gems
Each weighing good and bad in their own way
We silently watched their efforts and stayed away

World has gone too far and we are still in primary stage
Not learnt a single lesson and came up with the age
To be father of daughter is not at all curse
As they have proved better than boys of course

Sometimes I remember this episode and laugh
Why not people understand that their wife is better half?
In crisis she may be the only person to stand by
Why in the beginning there should be any worst try?
