PRAISE
Do not underestimate
the power of praise
It carries in its soothing stream
a priceless balm
cements the fragile self-esteem
of youth.
Harsh words for failed attempts
will split the heart
and leave it leaking courage
all life long.
If you would raise them strong
and unafraid
would teach them to themselves be true
then give the gift of praise
when such a gift is due.
