Prelude Scandalous Poem by Ahmad Shiddiqi

Prelude Scandalous

(dedicated to Mr. Leiv Ove Andsnes, a talented pianist)

small leafed linden trees
a gently sloping panorama
an ambient wooden gazebo
I swear you'll never be lonely

a long stone bridge
leads to pentagonal castle
through the sleepless nights
amarte me hace feliz cada dia

interwoven history
archaeological park
a wonderful arboretum
a Greco-Roman theater

rare waterfowl
the granite stones
in the shape of bear
secluded sedge marshes

rhythmic
melodic
motifs
small

introduction
improvisatory
the brief fugues
strict contrapuntal

modulation
retrograde
inversion
imitation

(inspired by Salvador Dali's The Swallow's Tail)
