Prelude To Darkness Poem by Nae Tyler

Prelude To Darkness

despite my best efforts
no matter what I do
its always the same
without you, without you

a mar to perfection
seems all I can be
while I wander far
you're not part of me

take my hand
and watch me fall
speak to me
and I'll ignore your call

show me the light
and I'll turn away
aware yet ignorant
night hides better than day

it's hard to stand up
-hold me and tell me I'm fine-
easier to fall
feel chains, hear 'you are mine'

guilt buried deep
my sin eats away
instead of 'Lord, I love you! '
we cry 'Lead us astray! '

each day the same
this is life with no rest
without you without you
life at its best

tempt me and tempt me
a release so inviting
take it all, no air
ever so enticing

one in the same;
hollow hearts and sad eyes
share the pain of no feeling
lay in ashes, can't rise

everything, everything changes
the mistakes been made
blood flows past your scars
feel your life fade

obscenely delighted
to distractions making us forget
one day whats left
graves reflecting that gorgeous sunset
