Presence! ! Poem by Soukarja Ghosal

Presence! !

'You are here? '-Cried he
Shaking the window panes with his baritone
Creating an aura of mystery over the air
That spread like a smell of incense,
(Incense) She gave him as a token of love!
The four letter word is his tormentor
That remained unrequited leaving him
Desolate and forlorn!
He is not blessed with that passion
A coy lover hesitates to explain to his beloved
Yet worships her image silently within him.

It is his presence, her agonizing absence tonight
It is his tangible presence, her corporeal absence.
A gust of wind kisses his unkempt hair
Bringing a smile on his dried lips
For presence is the dawn, absence is the twilight
Although cruel yet brings a ray of hope!
Her presence will not be too far
A mute announcement of an end to his scream of agony(Of her Absence!)
