Pretending You'Re Not There Poem by Candace Johnson

Pretending You'Re Not There

I see you over there
Looking at me with interest
And though I pretend I don't care
I do
I like the feeling it gives me
I like you
I am wishing you would come over to talk
And not having the guts to do it my self
So even if I pretend I don't care
Pretend that you're not there
Come over and see me

I am trying to decide your 'you' whether wordly being or some etherial one. If it is a person, the poem is quite obvious and if it is metaphysical, it bears some deep meanings. Anyhow this dual nature of the poem also proves it poetic and thought provoking. You obstrusive mood helps u go deep down into you and it shows you subjective in nature.
