Prodigal Poem by David Lovell

Prodigal

Rating: 5.0

I thought I'd be fine living life on my own for a while
There were things I wanted to do You said weren't right
I soon found the feast at the table of sin is nasty like bile
Now I long to return, but I'm ashamed to enter Your sight

It's that same blank stare every day I'm without You
It's that same lonely heart every night I'm without You
Every moment since I left Your side has been meaningless

It grieved My heart when you foolishly thought you could live on your own
How many years I had protected you from the folly of your sins
Now destruction and pain overtake you while you're all alone
Don't let shame keep you far away, I love you and wait with arms open

It's that same searching stare every day since you left Me
It's that same lonely heart every night since you left Me
Every moment since you left I've waited for you to return

Sad, & impassioned expressionof poetic grace....Love lost, sorrowed, but always opportunity to resolve or move on....your close-out tells me what you have chosen to do thus far....A splendid write, indeed, David....FJR
