Prolonged Silence Poem by Carla read

Prolonged Silence

Hurtfulness is what I thought Id always know
But when I saw your face in the sun
The moon carried the light in your eyes that will forever glow
Alone I was, until I saw you coming
Coming to comfort me
Mad and angry
I thought I always was but now theres no need to be
Laughter in my face
Happiness in my eyes.
No more hurt and sorrow
You rewarded me with that prize
Thank you so much for believing in me
When so many others have let me down
Thank you so much
For not giving up
When others started to put their back down
Now I know the reason
Why you showed so much care
And I want to tell you that I care for you to
Although that you will never be aware.
Our feelings are hidden
Afraid to tell
Both of us carrying to much pride
To talk first to lead to the wedding bell
I am sorry I ruined that chance
I am sorry you let me go
Because of the everlasting words
That both you and I will know
We both refused to talk
And now we both have gone
From the life we lived in
Because of the silence we prolonged.
