Promises

You promise me this is love
You promise this love is true
You swear that what we have,
is only me and you
But my gut is telling me different
And my soul is running out,
of the energy
the patience
and all I am left with is doubt.

Kind solace in a dying hour!
Such, father, is not (now) my theme-
