Protection Poem by Cassnadra Nuddkebrook

Protection

Into this earth we have built ourselves,
You and I.
Like so many caves that dot the mountainsides,
Dark and deep, cool and damp.
Like tiny rabbit holes,
Hidden neath boulders or in fields.
Warm and fluffy soft...
A place to hide, curl up and sleep.
You and I,
Dug into this dirt like Inipi huts.
Hallowed out and covered over.
A place where prayers are whispered and sent with the winds
and smoke is like water.
You and I...
We are each others safe place.
We are the homes where our spirits go to mend.
