Proud Poem by Janiah Jones

Proud

Dribble, dribble shot
Dribble, dribble steal
Dribble, dribble block

Oh No! three seconds in the field
The ref is sure to call it
Or the fans will kill

The wing plays like she’s straight out of college
“Ref timeout.”
This team is well polished

We need to figure this play out
Away game
Listen to the pressure from the crowd

Please not my knee pains
Wow technical foul
I can hear the crowd chant gain

My bodies trying to give out
Stadium loud. “Swish” silence know
I’m going to make my team proud

Were only one down
“Oh no! the trap”
“Come on team move the ball around”

The defense never lapse
sixty seconds left on the clock
I hear more pressure claps

But, their guard just got rocked
The crowed is shocked
Hope our next shot drops

“No! don’t pass the ball to Crock”
Hold your breath
“Aww! ” Blocked shot

I caught the rebound on the left
Thirty seconds left
I’m looking at the ref

Tic, Tock, Tic, Tock
No time left
I missed the game winning shot
