Psalm 22 Poem by Parker Perrella

Psalm 22

What is this love that He would come and die for me?
The One and Only son of God,
Born of the Virgin Mary.
The spotless Lamb- sacrificed-
Who bore all of our suffering.
My sins held Him there-
The iniquities of man pierced His hands and feet,
They divided up His garments
And casted lots for His clothing.
The Son of God and Man-
Perfectly righteous and divinely holy
Took on the full wrath of the Father,
Of which we were deserving.
He demonstrated the greatest act of mercy
The Innocent crucified, then buried-
But the grave could not hold Him!
He rose again in triumphant victory,
My sin forgiven-
My debt paid entirely-
My God, My God, you alone receive all the glory.
We shall proclaim the world all that you have done-
For by the blood of Christ we have been set free!
