Psychiarty Poem by oluchukwu ifechukwu

Psychiarty

You will sit often with terminal tenderness
By the bed burdened
With your enfeebled father's ebbing mind and
Ponder the deranged debris: the ponderous
Progress of his psychotic retrogression will
Attain willynilly to consummate corrosion.

You will sit often and
Ponder, without
The sheerest insight gained
Save for the faintest hint that
You chose psychiatry for a life calling, only
Because this senile sire will not spare
A farthing for a son otherwise wired for the traditionally
Vaunted mind-debilitating professions
Ponderous, of philosophy
Mysticism
Poetry.
