Purple Crayon Poem by Destiny Wendling

Purple Crayon

The cold hard truth
starts on my lips
comes out of my soul
and straight from my heart
Although it may not seem
that way to you.

Day after day
things became broken
Even after we hit the bottom
Have you noticed anything?

If you have, I'm so terribly glad.
If you didn't, oh well;
you're finding out the hard way.
You deserve to hear it from me.

I'm sorry to say
I'm too deeply in love with you.
Every move I take
is in your grace

Every thought I have
revolves around you
Without you I lay broken
A leaf blowing in the wind..

It might hurt to know that I did try
doing exactly what I promised I wouldn't.
But all is good now.
Because obviously, I love you.
Even enough to let you go,
even if it makes me sad as
the little girl I used to be,
crying over my broken
purple. crayon.
