Purple Haze Daze Poem by Ted Sheridan

Purple Haze Daze

Rating: 5.0

There are moments when I feel like I'm fix' n to die
As in that old song by Country Joe and the Fish
Get sent home in a box....
Give it all up and just bite the big one...
My health is bad to worse...Doctor's don't have a clue
Dentist just wants to pull the plug
And put my teeth in a jar next to my bed
Damn rat poison finally got to me
It did what Nam's Agent Orange
Couldn't do....though it made a damn good effort
Reeled me in like a big ol' fish on the line
But wouldn't release me this time....
Someone suggested I might get drunk and off myself
By blowing my brains out and onto the wall
Talk about a hangover...
Being found the next morning with my brains having
An out of the body experience all their own
No, that's not for me...
I'm more the sky diving type....
That way all anyone could ever say would be.....
'The dumb ass probably thought he could fly__'

Well, let's hope you display more responsible gun usage than that. Easy for me to say, but we all get a turn on the afterlife ride. No use pushing ahead in line. I for one prefer you continuing to blow your brains out all over the pages of poemhunter.
