Pyramid Poem by Etienne Charilaou

Pyramid

The white alabaster of the pyramid
threw glints across the great desert wastes
dazzling far-off caravans and other travellers.
Like a lighthouse beacon it drew wayfarers
to the busy hubs of Egypt.
The spectacle marked the centre of the world,
the splendour of a civilization, and
the might of its rulers.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Watched a program on TV about the prevalence of pyramids and their purposes. In central America you have more pyramids than in Egypt.
