Questions, Friendship, Answers Poem by Josephine Adrian

Questions, Friendship, Answers

Rating: 5.0

Was I meant to lead,
Or meant to follow;
Was I meant to chew,
Or just to swallow.

Was I born to live,
Or born to die?
Was I meant to answer,
Or just ask 'why? '

If I give up,
Did I still try?
Did I pass with flying colors,
Or just get by?

If ever I loved,
Would it be real?
Am I meant to know,
Or just to feel?

A secret whispered,
Is a secret kept.
To betray, is stupid;
And I'm not inept.

With open arms,
I will greet.
Invite you in,
And take a seat.

Listen intently,
As you talk,
Friendship is a journey,
So lets walk!

Hand in hand,
And side by side;
In each other,
We can confide.

Were you brought to me?
Or I to you?
Does it matter?
It's just us two.

Lets see what we come across,
And who we meet,
As we walk down life's road,
A bustling street.

We've found each other,
And I'm glad!
You're the bestest friend,
I ever had!

Pushed me up hills,
I could never conquer;
Reinforcing my weaknesses,
You make me stronger.

We laugh,
We cry,
We smile,
We sigh.

It seems forever,
But no time at all,
Since our first 'hi.'
In the church hall.

But that's how I like it,
Lets keep it that way;
You are still my best friend,
At the end of the day.

I was meant to lead,
And meant to follow;
If I chew,
I must swallow.

Born to live,
And born to die.
I may not know the answer,
But I can still ask 'why? '

I gave up,
But I did my best.
The only thing that matters,
Is I passed the test.

When love comes,
I'll let you know,
I'm sure I won't have to,
Because it will show.
