Racially Speaking Poem by derrick foster

Racially Speaking

Never let it be said
That black and white
Don’t belong together
In a simply delicious combo
Just taste an Oreo
Or black and white cookie
Yum. Yum. Yum.
Two combined sweet treats
Side by side appealing
To our senses.
Speaking of which
Look at the beauty
Of a skunk in all
It’s combined glory.
Can you get any funkier?
The classic linoleum
Provides further example.
Crayons and plaid
Also blend, interweave and
Meld together harmoniously.
Just like photo and video
Each element a slide
Of classy subjects; a flashback.
The spotty past of the South
Had it all wrong
Trying to centrifuge separation.
People belong together for
Best results; a perfect blend
Read the fine print, please
In writing, proof is in the reading
Black writing on white paper
White chalk on a chalkboard
Are present clear evident signs.
In prison, black and white stripes
Surpass the hideous orange.
In this big wide world,
We may clash from time to time
But upon closer viewing
Black and white go together
Indeed stylistically pleasing.
Face it. We are all here
racially speaking, side by side
getting on each others nerves
yet along, constantly.
Now that’s a yummy thought.
