Rain Poem by Heather Iverson

Rain

The air smells so sweet, so fresh
It's so crisp my nose tingles
There's a slight breeze
brushing my face
It's going to rain
Inside I jump for glee
It starts now
A single dropp splashes
Upon my forehead and rolls
Then a nother, and another
My senses awaken
It comes more steadily now
But I don't take shelter
I stand there, in the rain
Not minding that I am wet
I love the rain
It enlivens me
A simple pleasure to watch
Raindrops splash on the ground
Individual but together
A small puddle forms
I can see my reflection
And I smile
The sound of falling rain
Pleases my ears
There's nothing quite like it
Sometimes it befriends
Thunder and lightening
I am struck with awe and wonder
So beautiful, the sky
Picture perfect with a rainbow
I am drenched now
But I don't mind
And I smile
Because I love the rain
So sweet
So fresh
So crisp
Delightful
Rain
