Rainbow Instead Of Snow Poem by Charles Lara

Rainbow Instead Of Snow

Rain in December
where is the snow
the earth thinks
it is spring
as flowers bud
and morning birds
sing for life to rise
and gardens twitch
as southern winds
from the gulf
lap up the city
deep inside the
winter season
were youth is wide awake
and so are the rest of us
love doesn’t wear mittens
and a fat round yellow moon
sits on a fence drinking lemonade
humming the song
I’m in the mood for love
and spring shows up
for the holidays
and nobody wishes for snow
