Rains Through The Day Poem by Samarendranath Mahapatra

Rains Through The Day

Throughout the day, the rains.
Where shall I go?

The road is covered by coloured rain;
throughout the town the unnecessary anxiety;
in the house the chirping birds;
I am pained as if
my heart is full of the snow of loneliness.

What shall I do all alone?
How long shall I dust the tables,
read letters from older times?
Who is there to wipe off my tears
with the handkerchief?
sound on the stereo, who is there?

Throughout the town, the rains,
the blowing wind, the hailstorm;
the chequered nests. The silent zone.
What shall I do, alone in the rain?
Who is there to offer an umbrella,
fill my eyes with green, place
plant warm kisses,
on the heart. Who is?
