Rat Race Poem by Sukanta Mohapatra

Rat Race

: RAT RACE:
"Run, run! " they all cheer
"Win the race, run faster
Never care for who is ahead
Trample others, gather speed! "

I always wanted to be a winner
World is no place for a loser
Can't afford to slow down
Am not a romantic clown.

Beauty distracts, have to put on blinders
Days and nights are just blurs
No time for sunrise and sunset
I have to run for the target

I have to run over my emotions
Love and romance are meaningless
Inside the wheel, I quickened my pace
I dream of winning this never-ending race

I try to touch the horizon
I am taught, race is to be won
I know, now I can't afford stop
I have to run, till I drop..
