Try reading this by candlelight, on your own, in the smallest room you have! ! ! One of the deepest, darkest works I have ever had the fortune to stumble upon! ! ! Mr Poe your light shines on in the void you have left. |

Anne Freeman (8/6/2008 9:39:00 PM)
One of my all time favorite poems! I also like the more updated translation also. 'Then the bird said, WHATEVER! ' That makes me laugh every time I hear it that way. |
Love Peace (1/27/2008 6:51:00 PM)
Absolutely one of my favorites.
I had to memorize it for school and I can remember most of it still. |

Poe displays all the best elements of dramatic writing here
displayed in the form of poetry. Who would not fine fascintaion
with the lyical verse and enter into the dark night described.
Nevermore, indeed it is sad that Poe did not live a much longer
life. We will likely see his type Nevermore.
One to read over and over. |

This is my favorite of his poems. I was lucky enough to hear Vincent Price read this poem at a poetry convention in Orlando, Florida in 1986. I thought I was in heaven. |
