Tirupathi Chandrupatla

Ravi Shankar

Ravi, you left us
To reach a new height
You gave us light
Raga of life
And Shankar, you made
Everyone happy.

Your great foreseight
And imagination
A clear vision
Of magical proportion
Created the fusion
Of sound and vibration
Of east and west
And west and east
East is not just
East any more.

Sensational musicians
Singers and violinists
Classical and rock
Champions of the west
Sought your help
To bring hidden melodies
Of universal sound.

You the virtuoso
Magical wave of hand
On the seven stringed sitar
With sympathetic strings
And the resonating volume
Of the well grown gourd
Enthralled us all
In the years gone by
Your memory will live on
The immortal soul.

    What magic the fingers concealed,
    What melodies the strings contained
Only he and the strings knew
But why did they part ways?

    Immortal fingers
    Eternal strings
    Left behind
    A divine fusion! (Report) Reply
