Reading The Signs Poem by Andy Brookes

Reading The Signs

No hook, this way up, no knife, contents may settle during shipment
fragile do not drop, baby on board.
please flush, now wash your hands.
please keep clear as in constant use.
no parking yellow lines proclaims, no one listens.
danger of death, do not enter but we see the burnt offerings at its door.

Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
No more than two school children allowed in the shop at any one time.
Lift out of order. Please use the stairs
push or pull and please keep off the grass, smoking is not permitted.
risk of explosion.
hours on and off this a bus lane but.... packaging is more than needed and we struggle to open it so, beware the dog and do not foul or we shall have to fish you out
what no fishing? members only? it must I think be a sign of the times.

" do not foul" ? ? are 'we' playing basketball? ? ? i think there should be a warning accompanying all marriage, friendship, and partnership rings, bracelet, pendants, & tattoos: " Warning: Close human pair-relationships, though sometimes beneficial to one or both parties, MAY be HAZARDOUS to one's mental health! ! ! " bri :) bri :)
