Rebekkah Riding A Camel Poem by gershon hepner

Rebekkah Riding A Camel

And Rebekkah raised her eyes and say Isaac, and she fell from her camel. (Gen.24: 64)

Rebekkah when riding a camel
fell for Isaac, fatally female;
but if she’s been riding a horse
he’d have passed without looking, of course.

There isn’t, and I hope you won’t quarrel
to this story or point any moral.
I wrote it so Linda and my Zak
should laugh, like the patriarch Isaac.

Inspired by a four-line verse Zachary sent Abe Mezrich in response to the latter’s devar torah on parshat hayyei sara:

Oh God, send me a wife or a servant
no love required, feelings abeyant.
This women will build my nation
or run my estate (no vacation) .
