Red Bird

I walked through the forest
expecting to find
that one bird red in color
that chirps and sings
and occasionally glances
but never flies or chirps with me

I walk down the path
and no red bird chirps
no red bird rests on any branch

has he flown away?
is he okay?
I worry
though were half a world apart
together we could be magic
I worry
of never grasping that magic
red bird? oh red bird?
where are you?

Some say the world will end in fire,
