Redemption Poem by Bernard Kennedy

Redemption

Rating: 5.0

The word is the thing, and
this word redemption reintroduces
the lost one, homeless and begging.
a word that makes
the young beggar with his paper cup,
outside the fashion mall of nouveau riche
come inside.

Or, a recent homeless family find lodgings,
gifted by investors,
who know rust awaits the gold.
Or, again, pregnant and frightened,
sits welcome those nine months
like Mary with Joseph.
Or yet again, one more time
of redemption, the gay young man
coming out to welcome his partner
into his fathers house.

Redemption is a word of God,
made flesh in action of redeemed,
whose word is the thing
and etcetera, is inclusive.

a word that makes the young beggar with his paper cup, outside the fashion mall of nouveau riche..at the end of the poem you mention indeed the word Redemption in the christian teaching......... Christ comes to save the poor and the needy and also from our sins. the cup of the beggar goes with Christ in his acts of mercy for the poor. thank u. tony
