Redemption Poem by Sarojkanta Dash

Redemption

Down the line
My number as a friend
Doesn’t twinkle like a star,
It seems
It’s a gallbladder stone
That needs surgical removal
And the being of your friendship
Must be relieved of pain and blockage.

No capital city needs signposts
Mileposts,
Besides, footprints
Pugmarks in hundreds are visible
Rock solid
In the direction of the kingdom
Of your friendship,
Roads, streets and footpaths
Must be widened,
Thus, self-removal of a slight signpost
Is expected to be welcomed.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
friendship may not last long, though in many cases it is life-long. some examples of friendship can offer stories of eternal love and trust also. that is why it is considered divine. but when it is reduced down to a word, it is better you withdraw; it is redemptive to withdraw.
