Reflection Poem by Ruth L. Rivers

Reflection

Why are those words 'I'm sorry'
So very dear to me
Said with a moments reflection
And quaint sincerity

To absolve a violent argument
With one tender breath
And unite a canyon's divide
Vanquishing bitterness

More dear are these two words
Than any mans great speech
When deafening silence does prevail
And fire scars the cheek

'I love you' is quite dear to me
Along with 'missing you'
'How's life' ranks high on gloomy days
When the worlds gray 'n blue

But nothing will ever keep so close
As those two common words
When honestly given from one
Then so thankfully heard.
