Regret Poem by Brandon Owens

Regret

I remember everything you said
We were angry and upset
My mind raced and I yelled
My anger was not quelled
So I told some things to you
That had no place in the truth
They were only designed to hurt
I regret that it actually worked

Slithering deep down my throat
The lie I told makes me choke
The dark demon I released
Was the strongest of all beast
He ripped the air from my chest
I tried to tell you, I tried my best

These words are without a home
Forever they're lost unknown
My voice useless thoughts unspoken
I will remember the heart I have broken
If only I told you what I meant
“I love you”
It was too late you already left
