Regret Poem by Jared Bradford

Regret

Rating: 4.0

Is that what you call regret?
When you live your life
Never taking what you can get.

Always coming up a step behind
Never opening your eyes
You must be blind.

And is that what you call regret?
Wanna tell someone you love them
But you just seem to 'forget'

See other guys put in bids
You don't fight for her;
There's more guts in little kids

So is this what you call regret?
Telling someone that you love them
But you've barely even met

Now you played with their feelings
And now they're tying a rope
To hang from the ceiling

Baby maybe this is regret:
To stop and hold you goals
When they're all but set.

You didn't act when you were young
Now your song of life
Has been all but sung.

You're old and gray haired
You're all but deaf
You're sitting in a wheelchair

You've lost your eyesight
But it doesn't matter
You've been blind your whole life

Maybe now you feel regret:
Take life one step at a time
But you never even stepped

And I bet your spirit is all but severed
Cause you actually thought
That you'd be here forever.
