Remember Me Poem by Bill Simmons

Remember Me

Rating: 5.0

Remember me,
Remember me
It was I who fought for freedom
To give you liberty

In the predawn hours of the morn
When fire it filled the sky
It was I who came for you
So you would no longer cry

I marched through the spoils of hell
So you could have a life
I too held your children
I too dried their eyes

It was I in the field of battle
That you would see too bleed
That suffered too just for you
So you could say, you are free

It was I who held my banner high
So that you could know free life
And as I marched my friends would fall
But I stopped not to cry

When the smoke was cleared
And you see too, I have died
As they write my name down in stone
Know for you I gave my life

Remember me, remember me
For all that I am and was
And will never be,
I gave my life,
And if I could I'd give it twice,
Just for your freedom
So you would no longer cry.
