Remembering Christmas Poem by Jim O'Donnell

Remembering Christmas

Remember now this time of year
It’s the session of good cheer
Remember when you were a lad or lass
And all those Christmases that have past

Lying in bed listening out
To hear those magic reindeer about
Eyes all sticky filled with sleep
Very soon you were asleep

Crack of dawn eyes opened wide
You were filled with excitement deep inside
Run down stairs to the Christmas tree
All the presents your eyes could see

Santa’s been you scream out loud
Your mum and dad they look wore out
That Christmas stocking is hanging low
Filled with goodies down to the toe

No milk or cookie on the plate
Santa ate it when it was late
Fire burning nice and bright
And the room is filled with twinkling light

Remembering your Christmases past
And all the fun times that you had
Reading out those cracker jokes
And funny hats on all the folks

So remember when alls said and done
Christmas is a time for fun
Not just for some but for everyone
