Remembering Tiananmen Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Remembering Tiananmen

Rating: 5.0

Fateful day and long twenty years,
Eyes stunned and refused by ears,
Refused to see rising Sun and rays,
Heart feeling pain and parting ways,

First shot fired on students,
Killing on the spot to stop movements,
World amused and witnessed event,
It was hell let loose and reprisals sent,

Asking for simple change in system?
As clouds forming from boiling stem,
Warning signals and stern action for them,
Not seen motto behind but only theme,

Outcry for human rights violations,
Many argued for severing relations,
All in vain and fell on deaf years,
All forgotten as matter of yesteryears,

Still no fresh air to breath,
Allegiance by force under oath,
No freedom on this free world,
Termed as rioters and murdered in cold,

Your struggle may open new chapter,
World may not take lightly with laughter,
Movement so popular and sought after,
Sunny days after heavy and severe winter,

Your voice might have died out and forgotten,
We appreciated your way and pattern,
It was matter of pride and concern,
Whatever may be consequences and warning stern?

We will surge ahead and cherish,
Battle begun and just not finish,
All peace lovers may get together and wish,
In troubled water not allowed to fish

Who can be called real neighbour? Who stands by you in critical hour? Who carries no ill will or harbour? With you always and yours
