Republic Day 2015 Poem by Jasbir Chatterjee

Raj Path is closed,
Five star hotels are full,
Metro trains are not running.

There is heavy security everywhere.
Even the Sun has decided to stay at home,
It sleeps under a thick quilt of clouds…

Dancers will dance in the auditorium as before;
But instead of the National Emblem;
Their eyes will have to focus on Barack Obama.

In this dull, foggy weather, with an overcast sky,
We await with bated breaths the arrival tomorrow morning
Of Barack Obama, the most powerful President on earth.
