Resolve: Inheritance Poem by Jason Caporaletti

Resolve: Inheritance

Wipe your tears of mourning,
you have promises to keep.
You must continue moving,
while the mighty take their sleep.

For they have trusted you
to keep an eye out on this Earth,
and through your works
their legacies will always be re-birthed.

Accept your given duty,
your inheritance of will,
and death shall have no ruling,
for those passed are with us still.

They gave of themselves freely,
wanting nothing given back.
Follow their examples,
and give to those who lack.

In honor of their strength,
upon which you rely,
Be the future's strength,
you are now the new supply.

And if you ever feel remorseful,
lonely, or depressed.
remember your inheritance,
through which they are expressed.

As long as you remember,
life and spirit are akin,
then spirit is forever
and life truly never ends.
