Rest In Death Poem by Almedia Knight-Oliver

Rest In Death

Rating: 4.0

My soul rest from bounty days and years.
With generosity, you gave me long life...thank you!

Now, family and friends surround me with love
Read this poem I wrote for you, don't
wake me let me sleep.
Spirit needs to rest in peace.
Ring the bells and beat the drums.
Fill mouths with songs and eyes with hope.

Turn your heads toward the past.
Recite and paint it magical meanings,
Let songs and poems be my epitaph,
And a soft bed upon my soul rest

Weep not for me family and friends,
Raise your chin up like a rose
raising it petals to dawn.
Speak not of flowery deeds, instead
plant each step In life's garden.

Circle my tomb, sing my last song;
recite my last poem, touch my face,
my smiling lips and silent eyes.
Now my friends, my children, your children
and their children, go back...

Gather memories, place them in
Picture frames, dresser drawers,
and backpacks.
All these death can't take.
You, others, still others…now leave!
Go back to your dwellings
As I rest with death.

Raise your chin like roses raise it petals to dawn Speak not of flowery deeds but, direct your steps In the beauty of living Honourable poet after a long journey holding the hand of poetry through time, you have at last composed such a 'winning war-song'. Yes, you have defeated death. When you write 'Soul, I must rest from the bounty of days and years / Of your generosity, you spared my life.', its clear that you have surrendered yourself on the hand of universal and ultimate life-force which is called soul. The margin between life and death has been vanished to you by this sacrifice. So death is now of less importance to you. It is simply an action by universal entity to keep the life-cycle active.. Such writing give the strength to the reader to live with belief. So tranquil your utterance specially in this poem, as if you are talking from another planet. Marvelous. I think its not at all any epitaph which you have also mentioned, it is simply a winning song. A soldier who fought for beauty and light throughout life against evil and dark, he /she has at last won the battle at least in his/her own life-front. Peace and tranquility reside in you with your soul. Be your presence long more. LIVE and WRITE more...more... Regards, 10+++
