Rest In Him Poem by Betty Jo Hilger

Rest In Him

Rock-a-bye my baby
Dream of sweeter days
When everything was sweetness
And sadness flew away
Ride on gentle breezes
Until your eyes drift closed
I’ll hold you safely to my heart
As resting in repose
I look for Heaven’s answer…
The human antidote
For all the tears and suffering
Which ring with every note
Delivered on the currents
To land upon my ear
And, if I don’t seek heaven,
Would bury me in fear

Rock-a-bye my angel
Don’t let your heart be sad
No matter what the world brings
You always make me glad
I trust in Heaven’s promise
That all is used for good
And know within my soul of souls
He’ll use me as he should
So listen to me singing
This gentle lullaby
And spend your silence dreaming
There is no need to cry
Your Mommy and your Daddy
Will keep you safe from harm
Until that moment, bittersweet,
We place you in His arms

… and in His grace.
