Resurrection

I wanted to grow, to rise from the wreckage-
to go out on my own, to be loved again.
But no one was near, to watch as I managed-
to take that first step, to break out from the pain.

Fearing the next to come,
and that unknown behind the corner,
I broke the darkness, and the chains within...

And I moved on, to a place that farther,
to find nothing but rain,
nothing but mere torment.

poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I heard the bells on Christmas day
Their old familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet the words repeat
Of peace on earth, good will to men.
