Reverie Poem by Robert Burgan

Reverie

Rating: 5.0

Shook hands with a ghost then we broke bread
Realize we relate ‘cause we're both dead
I have to hand it to you
You consumed me
The walls caving in felt roomy

I'm living in a memory, walking through a heavy scene
Dreaming of you and I back when life was reverie
Your effigy was everything to me (rudimentary)
Thought that I could save you from a world of treachery
But look at me now walking up your burning hill
Taught your little hands to kill, sanitary landfill
Buried underneath Earth, came up to the surface
(Excursus) veered from the purpose
Nights feeling worthless now I feel the guilt and shame
Villain in the mirror still branded with the Mark of Cain
Multiply my darkest days
Take away the hardest place
Add a couple rock bottoms; you were there through every change!
Now we're estranged looking straight into the face of "done"
Tried my best to get it straight I've been really shaping up
I guess the circle never ends, everything will come again
All I can say is I miss you
You were my best friend.
