Reward Is In Heaven Poem by David Beckham

Reward Is In Heaven

Rating: 5.0

We all have qualities that make us unique
Qualities that are invaluable
You never know…
What that home you provided to the homeless is worth
Or that visit to the sick
Or that food to the starving
Water to the thirsty
But who are we to judge
We are forced to a humble beginning
Never had much, will never have much
Nothing has changed
The more you look the less you see
Images abound:
Tiger's estimate, worth over a billion
Oprah's, worth over a billion
Bill Gate's, over a billion
And the harder you look the less you see of yourself
Precious you
You, who mother held in her hands and said
'Son, you are special'
You, who your neighbor said
“You are an angel”
You, who gave a dollar to Dominique, so he could eat
You, who encouraged a child to go to school
Those are the values
That is the joy
That is life
It’s where we are
It’s the things we do
It should never change
To look in the direction of wealth
Will have a subliminal effect on your efforts
Cause you to make a demand from life
And you didn't even know it:
'I wish I got paid millions of dollars,
'I wish I got that Broadway show'
'I wish, I wish, I wish'
If only wishes were horses...
While you wishing away
A young man or woman is blessing you
Thanking you for your donation
For that new found courage
For the new found life to keep living
The child you help educate might be the next president
But you never know…
And the next time
You avoid an accident,
Or have food to eat
Or wake up in the morning
Maybe just maybe
The angels are watching over you
And counting your blessing for you
If you not counting yourself
It is not about being a Tiger or a Jordan
Or a Mariah or Oprah
But in appreciating who you are
And how much we all mean to each other
And making no demand from life
Trust that your faith and blessing will
Bring your reward on earth
Else, your reward is in heaven
