Rhinestone Coast Poem by Chris Haifley

Rhinestone Coast

It's the light that make life worth living,
When you're trapped in reality and your spirit can't safely recede,
It's the stars in the sky,
And the waning light,
As the colored sea gently rolls in.

It's the escape the ocean brings that makes me anew,
It's the chilled, heavy air and the straight horizon,
It's the millions of lights, in the sky, in the sand,
Surrounding my body as I face to the East.

It's the splash of the water, the reflection of the moon,
The whispers of midnight lovers,
All basking in this natural emotion.

I cry tears from the sea,
From the emotion it brings,
All the memories, they have not been in vain.
I was killed here, re-born here, and forever I will stay,
The redeeming waters have taken away the pain,
The attack is over,
And here I stand,
In my ocean,
As strong as can be.
