Rhythm Of The River Of Life Poem by Nazmul Haque

Rhythm Of The River Of Life

Rating: 4.5

Standing back into my heart's corridor
I waited for a while,
To see the river of my life,
To see the bird of my heart,
...The unseen river, the unknown bird.

Neither do I get the vision of my river,
Nor of the bird.
I rather get the feeling as if I were
Standing by the sea - a flock of birds singing all around.
Gentle breeze and sweet music - perfectly tuned together,
Oh, what a melodious sweetness!
The sweet moon smiles - creating an world of illusion
Sometimes it seems very near, and sometimes it seems far away,
The love affairs of the twinkling stars
Upon the breast of evening sky
Take me away into a newer world -
A world where love is like a poem
Written from the deepest core of the heart.

Suddenly, I hear the footsteps of someone -
I turn back,
Reality knocks at my door, and my dream breaks apart;
Suddenly I see the yellow envelope,
and the letter within it,
Written with the colour of blood,
The order to join the office of endless clattering.
The maddening wind of Baishakh encircles me,
Tied up with my official chair
I keep on drawing the mechanical paintings of life.
The lamp of hope runs out -
Now life goes on like a rhythmless poetry,
Firy wind comes splitting the breast of my life's river,
I transpire,
Like a caged bird I flap my wings in vain
Sketching the bare, naked story of my life.
