Ridiculous Bumper Sticker? Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Ridiculous Bumper Sticker?

Rating: 5.0

Saw a bumper sticker the other day
'The more people I meet…
the more I like my dog.'
As I reflect…the words repeat

Remembering a time or two
When my trust was betrayed
Tricked into believing by a human being…
Confidence increased as I was swayed

As the days passed a motive became clear
There were gains to be made by the merge
Assurances were reinforced by a friendly smile
Suddenly reversed… invoking an urge to purge

Compared to the canine friends I’ve known
Nary one dog was deceptive or tried to con
Always attentive… watching with caring eyes
Devoted and ready to defend when called upon

Loyal and appreciative…never demanding more
Dependable companions… protecting with their all
That bumper sticker now makes perfect sense…
Dogs never seek rewards that result in downfall
