Righteousness Of Man Poem by Randy Briggs

Righteousness Of Man

Rating: 5.0

This is the first poem I have ever written, about 3 years ago. I decided to use a few cliches (in a sort of literature rebellion I guess) , which should be obvious. Though I do not like laying out the messages I have inside of my writing, I will clarify that this poem has nothing to do with Jesus or Christianity. Almost the whole poem is symbolic of something which plagues the minds of people world over, and the end of the poem is a revelation of how I believe man can be truly righteous, either with or without God's help.

Walking through the forest of wonder
Lightning striking I can hear the thunder.
The whispering wind blows through the weeping willows
The creatures staring with eyes so bold
The lion takes his rightful throne
I keep looking around
My curiosity prone to death.
So I mind my own.
I reach the edge and breathe the ocean,
I hear a voice, 'Hello'
I see a goddess
I think.
But I tell myself beware-
The lustress Mistress in the ocean isn't what she seems
She will drown you in your sorrow
And your days of tomorrow will never pass.
I turn away.
The day is done.
The lionesses still on the run
Chasing prey for the lion and this throne,
Shepard bleeding
His sacrifice unknown,
Even the Shepard walks alone.
In my mind all things are crazy
Open my eyes and feel lazy
Close my eyes
Drift off again
Another trip to another realm,
A different dimension
I can't figure out.
I have no doubts,
The pride of man will lead to his downfall,
Righteousness no-: one can achieve
Without accepting the inevitability.
