Risk Poem by Frank DeFulgentis

Risk

as the sun rises
dark spots illuminate
trees become tall
the sky becomes blue
i've seen you before
drowning
in the same pool
you look calm
but you are a palm tree
in the wind
trapped like me

i know
what you must think
bout this dark universe
which we live
too many sins to forgive
not enough time
to risk something new

the rain
is the perfect place
for new beginnings
we can meet up
where the sorrow
becomes sweet
and the winter
becomes less bitter
the sun may never
kiss our faces
but you cannot save me
i cannot save you
let go of it all

there is a path
i know of
that leads through
forest and beach
blue sun of night
