Riverwalk

Opus 13

I, the pleasure of the warm sun's rays upon my back,
The ancient Ordovician seabed watched as,
I shared a meal with one who had the knack,
To know how much the value of the natural is.

It was a pleasant sojourn there upon the river's bream.
I listened to the music of the air,
And the rushing waters of the stream.
We are a verbal pair!

We talked, as usual, of life and of each other's dreams.
We found a comfort and a solace there,
Away from hurried city life, the scene
Was sweetness, not despair.

That golden day, the warmth I felt,
Not only from the sunlight came,
But also from the joy that dwelt,
Within the fibers of my frame.

Your choice, dear one, of nature's room,
To share a simple luncheon,
Inspired was, beyond my gloom,
You sensed my aspiration.

The beauty of the river found,
Right where I least expected,
The rushing waters gave forth a sound,
That kept us both connected.

It is with happiness, I talked,
And peace within my heart.
That day, we two, the river walked,
Was pleasant from the start.

I knew that I could not, in strife,
Be ever more alone.
My wish to celebrate your life,
Made peace within my own.

Fair nature's room was better than,
A host of other choices.
It was a most inspired plan,
My heart and soul rejoices!
