Rousseau: Un Aqueduc!
At 42, you know you didn't revisit
the walnut tree,
where you were so much your own master at 8,
because it would have humbled you
and brought tears
that mere memory can't;
because you now
have so little mastery;
yet want of tears
still makes you want to see.
