Runaway Poem by Robin Pine

Runaway

I need to get away
There is no need to stay
I hate being treated like dirt
If I go away I won't get hurt

I just need to be free
I don't need the third degree
I need to hang in
Just give my head a spin

I ran away to the park to hide
But I got pushed aside
I was alone and scared
But no one cared

But then you came along
Then you told me to be strong
You went ahead and took me in
That's where it will begin

You have been a good friend
You were there for days on end
So many times when I cried
You tried to make me feel better inside

But now it's time for me to leave
It's not that hard to believe
You'll see that I will be alright
Someday we will reunite

I have wondered far away
I think it's time to go home today
There is no reason to explore
I opened the front door

I will never forget what I did
I was just a kid
I said I won't do that again
So they brought me back in
